Acupressure for Constipation

The following is a do-it-yourself guide to acupressure that is intended to help relieve constipation.

Step 1:

Lay down flat on your back and place all the fingertips of both hands directly between your navel and pubic bone.

Press firmly inward, about 1 inch deep.

Maintain this firm pressure as you breathe deeply for 2 minutes.

Step 2:

Place your right heel on the outside of your left shinbone, 2-4 inches beneath the left kneecap.

Briskly rub this spot with your right heel for about 1 minute.

Repeat this process on the opposite leg.

Step 3:

Using your right thumb and index finger, squeeze the point on the left hand where the left thumb bone meets the left index finger bone.

This point is located at about the spot where the crease between the thumb and index finger ends on the hand.

Squeeze this spot firmly and take slow, deep breaths for about 20 seconds.

If you feel pain from the pressure inside your hand, squeeze slightly lower so that you are squeezing the bone more than the muscle.

Repeat this process on the opposite hand.

Step 4:

Place your right arm in front of your with your palm facing down, and your right elbow making about a 90 degree angle.

(Your right hand should be about in front of your left shoulder)

Use your lefts thumb and all four fingers to squeeze the top and bottom of the right elbow, at the crease.

Make sure you are squeezing the top and bottom, not the inside and outside of the elbow.

Hold firm pressure here for one minute and breathe deeply.

Repeat this on the opposite arm.

Conclusion:

Hopefully these acupressure pressure points have helped alleviate your constipation pains. They were chosen specifically to help relieve constipation.
