Acupressure for Motion Sickness, Morning Sickness, and NauseaThe following is a do-it-yourself guide to acupressure that is intended to help relieve motion sickness, morning sickness, and nausea. Step 1:Place your middle and index fingertips just below your earlobe. Gradually apply a light pressure and breathe deeply for one minute. Rub gently Step 2:Place your right thumb on the inside of your left forearm, just three finger widths below your wrist. Apply firm pressure to this spot with your thumb for one minute. Move your thumb just one finger width closer to your wrist, and apply firm pressure here again for another minute. Repeat this process on your other wrist. Step 3:Use your fingers to apply pressure at the bottom of the breasts, directly below the nipples. Hold these points firmly for one minute. Rub gently if you'd like. Step 4:While sitting down, place your right fist on the outside edge of your lower leg, directly below the kneecap. Briskly rub the top of the outside of your shin bone for 30 seconds. Repeat (or do at the same time) this motion with your left hand and left leg. Step 5:With your shoes off, use the bottom of your right heel to briskly rub the spot where your left big toe and second toe meet on the foot. Do this for 30 seconds, then repeat on your other foot. Step 6:Using your thumb and middle finger, firmly squeeze the left and right sides of the end second toe (the one next to the big toe). Squeeze for 30 seconds, then repeat on the opposite foot. Conclusion:Hopefully these acupressure points have helped alleviate your motion sickness, morning sickness, or nausea. If you are still feeling nauseous, try going for a gentle walk and getting some fresh air. Don't go to bed unless you have to. It could make the nausea worse. |
